After working on the Western Slope in various construction capacities for more than forty-years, Merritt & Associates G.C., Inc. was started by Merritt Sixbey and Brian Holton in 2008. Their intention was to supply a high-quality product at a fair price. This has been accomplished by consistently staying true to our Mission Statement and bringing together a management team that is like-minded. Our longevity on the Western Slope has allowed us to develop extremely strong relationships throughout the local construction and non-profit community.

Our company has completed site development, upgrades and upfits throughout our community. Examples of our work can be seen at Western Slope Auto, Picture Show Entertainment, Independence Center and Taco Johns.

Merritt & Associates specializes in Design Build and Value Engineering as well as the utilization of the CM/GC approach. Our success can be attributed to our ability to complete all projects while staying within budget. We carefully research our jobs to safeguard against unforeseen condition which can lead to multiple change orders. Our proposals are assembled with the client’s budget as the priority of the estimating process. These precautions allow us to offer competitive pricing without hidden fees. For example, we do not forward the cost of employee vacation pay and benefits to our client, thus a Gross Maximum Price is easily obtained. Another key component of our success is the pride our crews take in delivering a superior product. They understand customer satisfaction is vital to our continued growth, and our numerous returning clients speaks to the care we take with our projects.

Our organization brings more than 100 years of combined construction experience to your project. We work on every project as a unified team. The open lines of communication that we maintain with each other and our clients strengthens our teamwork. If a team member is unavailable another member steps up and takes on the role of that coworker. As such, we each have extensive knowledge about each project. This ability has proven successful as we have stayed a small general contractor that has successfully undertaken multiple million dollar plus projects.

Meet our Management Team

Merritt Sixbey: Merritt oversees all projects. He has vast experience in Land Development, City Planning and Stormwater. He grew up in the construction industry and has held his General Contractor’s license for more than thirty years. Merritt is qualified in excavation, steel work, parking structures, custom homes, industrial, commercial construction and commercial tenant finishes.

Brian Holton: Brian began working for Merritt while in high school. Eighteen years later he heads our Excavation and Stormwater divisions. Brian has completed the WCCA Apprenticeship Program, Metal Building Design School and holds our Fire Line License.

Mark Meiners: A veteran of the US Air Force, Mark began with Merritt & Associates three years ago. He is a certified welder and has completed large scale housing projects and commercial builds. Prior to working as our official Safety Coordinator and Carpentry Superintendent, Mark worked in the oil field as a Safety Director and Instructor.

Cathe Ruybal: Cat is a graduate of Colorado Mesa University and possesses a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance & Economics. Cat oversees the office, manages documentation preparation, document submittal and bookkeeping. Due to her roles within our organization, Cat familiarizes herself with each project and acts as a communication point for our clients, subcontractors and vendors.
